Community rules
This English version is a translation. The German version is binding. Read the German version
Gorilla Gainz is for training and for respect. These rules apply to everything you post, write or start.
- Respect. No insults, no bullying, no hate against people because of origin, religion, gender, orientation, disability or body.
- Train honestly. No faked workouts, personal bests or challenge results. Don't trick the camera counter.
- No nude or sexual content. Workout photos without a shirt are fine. Nudity and sexual content are not.
- No violence, threats or dangerous acts. No threats, no calls for violence or self-harm, no risky dares as a challenge.
- Show only people who agree. Photos and videos of others only with their consent, of other people's children not at all. No private information about others.
- Stay real. Don't pretend to be someone else. No spam, no advertising without an agreement, no links to scams.
- 14 and up. Gorilla Gainz is for people aged 14 and older. We suspend accounts that are younger.
- Train at your own risk. Train only when you are healthy, and listen to your body. Gorilla Gainz is no substitute for medical advice.
If you break the rules, we remove content, warn you, limit your posting or suspend your account. You can appeal. Serious violations lead to an immediate suspension. To report: ··· on any content. Questions: support@gorillagainz.app.
How to report something
In the app, tap ··· on a post, comment, profile, group, session, live session, spot, photo or rating, and then "Report". You pick a reason and can add a note. For "Illegal content" and "Other" we need a short text (at least 10 characters).
These reasons exist, depending on what you report:
- Spam or advertising
- Insults or bullying
- Hate or discrimination
- Nudity or sexual content
- Violence, threats or self-harm
- Dangerous exercise or action
- Person without consent
- Private place (home, garden), for spots
- Wrong information, for spots and spot descriptions
- Fake identity or information
- Younger than 14
- Illegal content
- Other
On the website, "Report" sits at the end of pages that show content from users. It is a link that prepares an e-mail to support@gorillagainz.app. You can also report content or people without the app: write to this address.
The person you report never learns that you reported them. You get a message as soon as we have decided. You can send at most 20 reports a day, and you can report each piece of content only once. If someone harasses you, you can also block them: ··· on their profile, then "Block". You no longer see each other, and they are not told.
What happens after a report
A person on our team looks at every report. We handle urgent reports first, for example about sexual content, violence or danger to minors. Reports by minors or about minors concerning harassment, sexual content or violence always count as urgent.
If several accounts report the same content independently for a serious reason, we hide it from everyone except its author until we have decided. For "Illegal content" we hide it at once. Our team does not copy, download or forward such material; we secure it and report it without delay to the competent bodies, such as the internet complaint office or the police.
A report alone does not lead to anything: a report is a hint, not a verdict. If a report is wrong, nothing happens to the person reported. Reports of people who report without grounds again and again eventually stop counting.
What happens when rules are broken
We decide in these steps:
- Removal. The content disappears. On its own, that is not yet a warning.
- Warning. We remove the content and warn you. You see "Warning 1 of 3". A warning is valid for 180 days.
- Restriction. At the second warning within 180 days, for 7 days you can post new content only for yourself, you cannot comment and you cannot send new friend requests. Your training and your streak keep counting.
- Suspension. At the third warning within 180 days, we suspend your account. Your content is then no longer visible, sessions you planned are cancelled, and a group you own goes to another member.
- Immediate suspension. For serious violations we suspend without the earlier steps: sexual content involving minors, sexual or grooming contact with minors, credible threats, publishing private information or stalking, scams and coordinated spam. Where it is required, we report this to the authorities.
- Under 14. We suspend the account and delete it if nobody appeals within 14 days. Accounts of 14 and 15 year olds are allowed.
A removal does not take a streak day away from you.
You get every decision with reasons: what we removed or changed, which rule it breaks, what we saw, whether an automatic check took part and what the consequence is. In the app you find this under the notice we send you. If your account is suspended and you can no longer sign in, we send you the reasons by e-mail.
Automatic checks
A list of unacceptable words checks names, texts and descriptions when you save them. For very bad words, the app does not save the text and says: "This text isn't allowed." It does not name the word. For milder hits, such as links, phone numbers or advertising, we save the text and look at it later; comments and ratings from accounts younger than 7 days are held until they are checked.
Every photo you upload is checked by an automatic service for clearly sexual or violent content before others see it, also when the audience is "Only me". On a hit we hold the post back ("Your post is being reviewed. This takes up to 24 hours.") and a person looks at it. Workout photos without a shirt do not trigger this. We do not check videos automatically; we rely on reports and on spot checks of new accounts.
A person always decides whether something is removed or an account is suspended.
Appeal
You can appeal every decision. In the app, open the notice and tap "File an appeal". You have 30 days from the notice, and 14 days for a suspension because of age. Write briefly why the decision was wrong. We answer within 7 days. A person other than the one who decided first decides on an appeal, if there is one.
If the appeal succeeds, you get the content back and the warning is withdrawn. If your account is suspended and you can no longer open the app, write to us at support@gorillagainz.app.
We decide separately on the scoring of a set in a challenge. You appeal that in the challenge (within 7 days).
Children and teens
Gorilla Gainz is for people aged 14 and older. Accounts under 18 start private, are not suggested to others and can be found only by the exact username. Adults you do not know through shared friends or a group cannot send a request to 14 and 15 year olds. There are no direct messages.
If your child is on Gorilla Gainz, write to us with the username at support@gorillagainz.app. If the child is under 14, we suspend the account. If the child is 14 or 15, we explain the privacy settings. You can report an account that might be younger than 14 with the reason "Younger than 14".
