High knees

Also called High knee run

High knees are running on the spot with your knees driven up to hip height. Expect your hip flexors, quads and calves to work hardest, with your abs, glutes and hamstrings joining in. They raise your heart rate quickly. They are a good warm-up and a fine cardio finisher. Stay tall, move your arms and stay light on your feet. Count reps or work for a set time. If your knees stay low and you lean back, slow down and lift them higher.
