Plank

Also called Forearm plank, Elbow plank

The plank is a hold on your forearms and toes with your body in one straight line. Expect your abs to work hardest, with your shoulders, glutes and lower back joining in. It is a simple way to learn to brace your core, and it suits almost everyone. Keep your elbows under your shoulders and squeeze your glutes. If it is too hard, rest your knees on the floor for a shorter, easier hold. End the hold when your hips sag or your lower back hurts. The Side plank adds work for the sides of your core.
