Wall walk
The wall walk takes you from a push-up position into a near-handstand by walking your feet up a wall and your hands toward it. The main load falls on your shoulders and abs, supported by your triceps, upper back and forearms. It builds shoulder strength and comfort upside down, so it is a good first step toward handstands. Walk only as far as your body stays straight. Warm up your wrists and walk back down slowly. When you can hold the top steadily, the Wall handstand is the next step.
